Bridal Furniture Checklist: Planning Jahez Furniture Without the Stress
Furniture is one of the biggest and most visible parts of a wedding household, and in many families it is still planned as part of the bride’s jahez. It is also one of the easiest things to leave too late. Made-to-order pieces need time, colours have to be agreed, and everything has to fit the new home.
This checklist helps you plan bridal furniture calmly, months before the shaadi.
Start early: a simple timeline
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| 4–6 months before | Agree the budget, list the rooms to furnish, and get measurements of the new home. |
| 3–4 months before | Visit showrooms, shortlist designs, compare quotes and choose colours. |
| 2–3 months before | Confirm the order, pay the agreed advance, and get delivery dates in writing. |
| 2–4 weeks before | Confirm delivery slots and plan access to the house. |
| After delivery | Inspect every piece and report any issue straight away. |
Made-to-order designs in a custom colour or fabric take longer than in-stock pieces, so build in extra time during the busy wedding season.
The core bridal furniture list
Bedroom
- Bed set: bed, two side tables and dressing table with mirror.
- Wardrobe or almirah, if the room does not have built-in storage.
- Mattress, bought to fit the bed base exactly.
- Optional: bench at the foot of the bed, a pair of bedroom chairs, chest of drawers.
Drawing room or lounge
- Sofa set, usually 3+1+1 or 3+2+1.
- Center table and, if space allows, side tables.
Dining (if required)
- Dining table with six or eight chairs.
Choose a style that will last
Bridal furniture is often chosen to look grand on the day, but it will be used for years. Some tips:
- Royal carved designs with gold detailing, such as the Sardar Royal Bed Set, give a classic bridal look that families love.
- Modern tufted designs like the Signature Bed Set suit couples who prefer a contemporary home.
- Pick a colour palette for the whole house so bedroom and drawing room furniture look like they belong together.
- Deep colours such as maroon, emerald and royal blue feel festive; beige, cream and grey are easier to live with long term. One statement piece with neutral surroundings is a good balance.
Measure the new home, not the old one
Furniture is often chosen at the bride’s family home but delivered to the in-laws’ house or a new flat. Before ordering, get:
- Room sizes for the bedroom and drawing room.
- Door widths, stairs and lift dimensions.
- Window and AC positions on the walls where large pieces will go.
Our guide on measuring before you order explains exactly what to check.
Budgeting tips
- Decide which room matters most and spend more there; usually the master bed set.
- Ask for a combined quote for bedroom and drawing room furniture.
- Confirm what is included in each set (mattress and wardrobe are often separate).
- Check delivery and installation charges. At Homex, delivery within Lahore is free.
- Ask about warranty. Our furniture comes with a warranty of up to 10 years, depending on the product.
Get everything in writing
Before you pay an advance, make sure you have a clear record of the design, colour or fabric, sizes, price, payment schedule and delivery date. A WhatsApp message with photos of the exact design is a simple way to keep this record.
On delivery day
- Have someone at the house who knows where each piece goes.
- Check each item for damage before the team leaves.
- Keep packaging until everything is set up and checked.
